The above pictures are of various pits from which we have removed gravel and then landscaped, leaving them visually appealing and beneficial to wildlife and, in some places, available for building sites.

The view above is from one of the many prime building sites available in Hillman Hills Estates.  The large lots include city water, cable, electricity, and phone.  The ball diamonds and track and field are on the former Bergsma Pit.

The wash plant used to occupy this site on the North side of Essex Road.  It is now part of the great view as seen from building sites at Essex Estates; some  are adjacent to the pond and others overlook the pond, Ellsworth, and the Chain-of-Lakes valley.

Gravel is currently being removed from other sites around Ellsworth, and when the gravel is depleted, these too will become pleasant habitats for fish, fowl, animals, and people.
