Drenth Brothers, Inc. was formed in 1948 as a partnership by George, Harvey, and John Drenth manufacturing and selling Brikcrete products.. The need for sand to produce the Brikcrete soon led to the purchase of equipment to excavate, haul, and screen the sand.  Having that type of equipment led us into the gravel and excavating business, along with expanding into other various concrete products.  In 1951, we began doing building construction, which continued until 1973.  In January of 1970, the company was reorganized into a corporation.  We began manufacturing wood pallets in 1974, and in 1978 decided to discontinue manufacturing concrete products.  In 1981 we moved our wash plant operation to its present location on Essex Road.  In 1994 we moved our pallet mill to the new mill location on Essex Road, and in December of 2003 we sold the entire pallet operation to Grand Traverse Pallet.  We are now focusing primarily on the manufacturing and delivering of sand, gravel, and stone products, and are doing excavating work.
